A level 2 cold weather alert has been issued from 06:00 on Tuesday, 3rd December and 09:00 on Thursday, 5th December 2019. This means that temperatures are likely to drop to levels that increase the risk of ill health among vulnerable people, those with long term conditions and those living in cold homes.

The Met Office, in conjunction with Public Health England, is issuing the following cold weather message:
“Severe cold weather can be dangerous, especially for the very young or very old or those with chronic disease. Advice on how to reduce the risk either for yourself or somebody you know can be obtained from the winter health pages at NHS Choices (www.nhs.uk) or from your local chemist. If you are worried about your health or that of somebody you know, ring NHS 111.”
