Traffic and Road Safety West BerkshireBurghfield Road, Burghfield CLOSURE 12th – 15th Oct 2020

Burghfield Road will be closed at Burghfield Bridge for 3 nights from Monday 12th October 2020. The works to be carried out under the road closure are the removal of the unsafe damaged section of brick parapet, removal of sections of the brick parapet from the canal and the relocation of the temporary concrete block edge protection to provide a safe working area. The above works will be carried out under a full road closure with a signed diversion route. The works have been programmed to be carried out over the following three nights:

19:00hrs to 05:00hrs Monday 12 October 2020, 19:00hrs to 05:00hrs Tuesday 13 October 2020 and 19:00hrs to 05:00hrs Wednesday 14 October 2020.

Once this has been carried out the parapet will be then be rebuilt using a pontoon on the canal with the bridge open to traffic as normal under the permanent two way traffic lights.

During the closure all light traffic will be diverted via Burghfield Road, Theale Road, Hose Hill, Hangar Road, Station Road, Brunel Road, Waterside Drive, A4 and vice versa.

During the closure all vehicles over 3T or 6’ 6” wide will be diverted via Hermits Hill, Reading Road, A340, A4 and vice versa.

Access will be maintained for emergency vehicles although a short wait is to be expected while plant is moved aside.
