West Berkshire Bus Service Survey 2021
Have your say
Background
The government have launched their new bus strategy “Bus Back Better“. The Strategy sets out the government’s vision and opportunity to deliver better bus services for passengers. Essentially this may consist of more frequent, more reliable, easier to understand and use, better coordinated and cheaper bus services. Local Transport Authorities will be given more powers to improve bus networks in their area.
To meet the requirements of the new bus strategy, we will establish an Enhanced Partnership, which will work with all the bus companies that operate services in West Berkshire, to improve bus services across the district. The improvements that we and the bus operators propose will be drawn up in our Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP), which must be submitted to the Department for Transport by 31 October 2021. The DfT will allocate funding to Transport Authorities in accordance with their assessment of the strengths and ambitions of their BSIP.
To help us design our BSIP, we’re asking for your views on the current bus services in West Berkshire, and if you have any suggestions for possible improvements. We’d like to hear from those who use our buses, and those that don’t.
Why we want your views
It’s important that we, and the bus operators, understand the needs of our passengers and potential passengers.
We’d like to know your experience of travelling on bus services in West Berkshire, and if you have any suggestions for how we can make them even better. Similarly, if you do not use the bus services, we would like to know why, and what improvements would encourage you to take the bus in the future.
How to take part
If you’d like to let us know how satisfied you are with bus services in West Berkshire, and your suggestions for any improvements, please complete our survey by midnight on Monday, 30 August 2021. It should take about 10 minutes.
If you have any questions about the consultation, please contact transport@westberks.gov.uk.
What happens next
Your feedback will be taken into consideration and used to inform the BSIP, which will be submitted to the Department for Transport by the end of October 2021, and published on this page.
If our BSIP submission is successful and we are awarded funding, we will keep you informed on our Enhanced Partnership (for local bus services) webpage.
