Community ProjectsVillage Hall Refurbishment Works

Project Update

The parish council would like to say a big Thank you to everyone who took the time to either complete the recent survey or forward their views and comments regarding the Village Hall Refurbishment Project.

The consultation confirmed that:

  • 80% of respondents were in FAVOUR of the Parish Council obtaining a Public Works Loan for the value of £100,000 for the refurbishment of the village hall.
  • 73% of respondents were also in FAVOUR of the proposed precept increase for the purpose of the loan repayments.

The overall response was incredibly positive with encouraging comments. We therefore thought we would share some of the comments received:

“A great idea which will benefit the whole community”
“Worth it just to have a public toilet available for summers in the park. It’s a hub for the community to use and should be of a decent standard. Thank you for doing this”
“Brilliant idea, just what the village needs, long overdue refurb”
“It’s a great village facility and it would be a shame not to maximise its potential”
“Fingers crossed this goes ahead, it looks great”
“Small price to pay for the heart of the community”
“One of the best communities I’ve lived in, I hope this helps it continue”

After much scrutiny, the tender was awarded to DG Construction with works scheduled to commence on Monday 11th January 2021, for a period of 20 weeks.

Please note that due to Health & Safety precautions, the village hall car park will be closed for the duration of the works. Alternative parking is available at the Common Recreation Ground car park, approximately 100 yards from the village hall.

The aim of the refurbishment project is to ensure the village hall remains at the heart of the community both now and for future generations. We look forward to welcoming you all back in Spring 2021.
