The much loved and used skate park at the Old Recreation Ground is sadly nearing its end of life. The skate park was originally installed in 2006 and over the last four years has undergone many repairs due to its age and usage; hole filling, painting and a new ramp last summer, totalling £17,643.00.

It is estimated that once the skate park is re-opened, following lockdown restrictions, it will most likely only last another six to twelve months, at best.

So what do you, as the community, think should be the future of the Old Recreation Ground?  The Parish Council will allocate £25k towards the future of the area, be it towards a new skatepark, inclusive sensory toddler play area, outdoor gym equipment or an open green space? You decide.

All of these ideas rely on community involvement and your support in assisting with the fund raising needed to enable us to provide what you would like to be at the heart of your community. You get to decide, and we would love to hear from you!

What are the approximate costs?
Toddler play area – £25k
Outdoor Gym equipment – £25k
Skate Park – £100k
To revert the area back to a green space – £5k

Please email us your thoughts and comments and let us know whether you can get involved in the project.

If there isn’t sufficient support or interest the skate park will be decommissioned and the site reverted back to a green open space. Please let us know your thoughts and comments.
